Publishing Update

grimrose_eilwynnI said I was going to try to get one of my books published, and that's still the plan.
I did some online research and as far as I can tell, if I want to get published I need an agent. So I made a list of books I like that are sort of like the book I want published.
Next, I tried looking up the publishing agents of each of the books. I found one person's name and email, and have sent emails to publishing houses for three others, asking for the publishing agents' names. I haven't gotten a response back yet, and I'm getting a little nervous.
Maybe this isn't the right way to go about things? Maybe the publishing houses won't respond to me? But I'm not sure what else to do...
I'm getting kind of worried.
